EYES WIDE OPEN

GOOOOD MOOORRNIING!
haha you would think buy saying good morning like that it would actually be a good morning. but the truth is.. its a typical Monday morning here. anyywwwhhoo. i don't know about you guys but lately i have been having these heavy bags under my eyes.. all the time and are slowly turning into dark circles. pshh needless to say i hate them. came upon this article but a new makeup that helps cover them up read on if your interested. ohh! and i hope all of you had a great weekend!

Stressed out? Been burning the candle at both ends? You can only have so many long days and late nights before developing dark circles under your eyes. You might even suffer from permanent discoloration, the result of poor skin tone or pigmentation.

The good news is that French makeup brand Laura Mercier has come up with a solution that means you can wave goodbye to those dark shadows. It's called the Under Eye Perfecter and the textured, easy-to-apply cream comes in two colours: orange and mauve. You finish off with Concealer and Secret Brightening Powder.

"Celebrities attending Laura Mercier events always ask me how to conceal tired-looking eyes," says the brand's global makeup artist, Michel Colombe, during a recent workshop in Bangkok.

Colombe explains that there are three easy steps to a perfect look. The first is to choose the colour that is best suited to your skin tone. "Orange works best for dark circles that look grey to greenish while mauve works on red to purple shading," says Colombe.

Once you've selected the colour, apply the cream gently around the edge of the eyes using Laura Mercier's secret camouflage brush until the skin colour looks even.

"In the old days, makeup artists used to mix lipstick colours to create a perfect shade to suit to the skin tones under the eyes, but lipstick has a lot of oil so it gives the skin an oily sheen," he says.

Step two is to hide the dark circles with Laura Mercier's Secret Concealer, a moisture-rich and vitamin-enriched product that's easy to blend and leaves the sensitive skin moist and soft. Apply with the brush then press the spot gently with a finger.

Finish off with a touch of Secret Brightening Powder applied with the secret camouflage powder brush to complete step three. The powder, which contains micronised pigments, will leave the skin looking radiant and natural. Colombe warns against using it on the whole face, though. "It's designed only for the area that needs lightening," he cautions.

With 12 years experience in the fashion industry, Colombe stresses the importance of moisturising the skin before putting on makeup. "Choose your products carefully and remember if your skin care routine does not include sufficient moisturiser, the concealer will be hard to blend and create an uneven tones on the skin."

BRUSHING UP
Laura Mercier Under Eye Perfecter costs Bt850, the Secret Concealer is Bt950 while the Secret Brightening Powder is priced at Bt1,050, available at the brand's counters in department stores

Get Your Skin Glowing.

Its Monday morning! whats exciting about this.. I'm sure most of us want to just stay in bed. rather then sit in a chair at a desk for 8 hrs. ughh. anyways i found this cool little article that deals with mainly skin care. enjoy i enjoyed reading it.

A glowing skin is one of the most visible features of your personality and is also considered one of the signs of good health. In many studies of romantic and sexual attraction, radiant skin is cited as a parameter. So it’s no wonder that a good complexion is something that most women desire.

Before I get into the foods that can make your skin glow, here are some reasons why you may have dull or bad skin.

If you scrimp on sleep, you are likely to end up with bags under your eyes, dark circles and early wrinkling.

Lack of sun exposure and too much sun exposure can both spoil your skin. The sun’s rays provide vitamin D and therefore you need some amount of it for the health of your skin. However, you should not expose your face to the sun. Cover your face with a high SPF cream, and expose your limbs to the sun instead. Even so, make sure none of your skin is exposed during peak sunlight hours. Enjoy the sun only in the early morning.

Alcohol and cigarettes are the top skin spoilers as they cause dehydration. In addition, smoking results in the shrinking of capillary blood supply to the delicate areas of facial skin, leading to early wrinkling.

Over-consumption of tea or coffee is likely to cause acidity and dehydration, leading to early wrinkling. However, two cups a day of either beverage should be all right.

If you use too much make-up, foundation and so on, and do not remove it diligently before going to sleep, the skin does not get time to breathe. Clogged pores are likely to lead to skin problems.

Anxiety, plus a genetic tendency towards hyper-allergic states leads to skin allergies.

The use of strong creams and fragrances during periods of high anxiety or during the pollen and windy season can cause skin problems. Now that you know what can spoil your complexion, here’s what can make it glow.

Apples are good because of their vitamins and pectin. Pectin helps absorb unhealthy oils and toxins from the skin and also helps the liver to neutralise skin-damaging toxins.

Fruits like pomegranates, oranges, lemons and keenu have vitamin C that helps to fight the ageing of your skin. Vitamin C builds the elasticity that is essential for soft, supple, non-wrinkled skin.

Broccoli, spinach, green leafy vegetables and salads provide several vitamins including precursors for vitamin A, which is essential for skin repair.

Carrots, tomatoes and red vegetables – the pigment lycopene found in these vegetables is essential for skin repair.

Almonds, sunflower seeds and flaxseeds contain vital oils required for nourishing the skin. A juice that contains tomato, carrot, ginger, mint and lauki combines several vital vitamins and also has antioxidants that fight skin-damaging free radicals.

Men 'need better-fitting condoms'

howdy!
hahaha wow i cannot believe i actually said that. well anyways. i hope everyone has a better weekend then i did. Valentines day weekend should have been fun for everyone . unfortunately mine wasn't haha but this blog isn't about my life. its about the exciting world of vitamins! wooo.
anyways found this interesting article on condoms.. and how one size doesn't fit all.. well duh!!
haha read on its pretty interesting for a Tuesday morning.

Men 'need better-fitting condoms'

One size does not fit all, say experts
Badly fitted condoms do not just reduce the pleasure of sex for men and women - they raise the risks of infection and pregnancy, researchers say.

Men are twice as likely to take the condom off midway through sex due to a poor fit, a poll of 436 men in Sexually Transmitted Infections journal reveals.

Ill-fitting condoms more than doubled the chances of them splitting or slipping off, a Kentucky team found.

UK experts said men should know condoms came in different shapes and sizes.

Condom use is increasing in popularity, now rivalling the Pill as a form of contraception, according to a recent poll.

However, there are concerns that couples may turn away from them if they fail to fit comfortably and correctly, and risk unsafe sex instead.

The latest study fuels these concerns.

Out of 436 men questioned by the University of Kentucky researchers, 195 reported that their last sexual encounter involved an ill-fitting condom.

Standard latex condoms should fit most people but there are many different types of condoms available in different shapes and sizes and trying different types will be important in finding the 'right one'

Simon Blake, Brook
A total of 120 of these said that this had reduced their own sexual pleasure, and 57 said it had reduced it for their partner.

In addition, 34 said they had removed the condom early, while 18 said the condom had broken during sex.

All of these problems were far less frequent among men who reported a well-fitted condom.

One solution, according to the US researchers, would be better public health efforts to make sure that men achieved the best fit.

Simon Blake, from advisory charity Brook, said that, used correctly, condoms were 98% effective and protected against both unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

He said: "Standard latex condoms should fit most people but there are many different types of condoms available in different shapes and sizes and trying different types will be important in finding the 'right one'."

Natika Halil, from sexual health charity FPA, said that men, and women, needed to take time to learn the skills needed to put a condom on properly.

"Confidence and the skill of putting on a condom also contributes to how well they are used.

If we are serious about people being able to use condoms consistently, then we need to listen to their needs

Gill Gordon, International HIV/AIDS Alliance
"Men come in all shapes and sizes and so do condoms. When we talk with men on the FPA helpline about condoms tearing, slipping off or being a nuisance to use, one of the main culprits is often something as simple as not using the right size."

Gill Gordon, from the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, has spent time talking to men in Africa about condom use, and says the size and fit issue must be addressed if condoms are to be used effectively to reduce the number of new HIV infections.

Unlike in Europe and the US, the variety of sizes and shapes of condoms is not available to most men - she told of some resorting to tying an oversized condom on with string, or preferring to use the female condom because regular size versions were so painful.

She said: "I think that the unwillingness of African men to use condoms has been overstated, and that many more would be willing to wear one if they were more comfortable.

"If we are serious about people being able to use condoms consistently, then we need to listen to their needs."

Mo. woman pleads guilty in supplements fraud

People do some crazy things. its weird man.. like really this is terrible if you really think about it, she was basically selling something that could have harmed someone else. and advertising it as a diet pill.. sick.

Mo. woman pleads guilty in supplements fraud

Associated Press - February 8, 2010 8:24 PM ET

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A southwest Missouri woman has admitted taking part in a scheme to fraudulently market dietary supplements over the Internet.

The U.S. Attorney's office says 25-year-old Mai Lor of Springfield faces up to five years in prison plus a fine of up to $250,000.

Prosecutors announced Monday that Lor pleaded guilty last week to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Lor was part-owner of a company that bought and sold dietary supplements. Prosecutors say the supplements were fraudulently advertised as preventing, treating or curing such diseases as heartburn and high cholesterol.

The government says nearly $12 million worth of the supplements were sold.

Under the plea deal, Lor agreed to forfeit any property bought with proceeds from the scheme, including several properties in Springfield, Rogersville and Pleasant Hope.

Obesity May Delay Boys' Puberty

Morning all !
well I'm in a " i don't really want to be here mood" lol so I'm going to try to keep it as short as possible. i found this article on... you guessed it, google news. its short and sweet so basically perfect lol. enjoy and hope you guys have a great weekend.

Researchers may have found yet another reason not to let boys become obese -- it could delay their puberty.

A study on U.S. girls finds childhood weight gain triggers early puberty.A study following over 400 boys shows that those who are obese are twice as likely as their normal-weight counterparts not to have started puberty by the age of 11 and a half. While previous studies in girls had shown the opposite phenomenon -- girls who are obese tend to hit puberty earlier than their normal-weight counterparts -- it seems obesity may cause a maturity delay in boys, a situation with unknown and possibly far-reaching effects.

How fish oils add years to your life (and take years off your face!)

Fish oils.. seems like everyone has some in there household medicine cabinets haha i know i do.. but yeah interesting article..well to be honest i didn't read it, but the title caught my attention soo yeah here you go!
ohh and hope you all had a great weekend! :]

OHH FYI. ITS EXTREMELY LOOONNNGGGG! SO IM GONNA POST HALF THE ARTICLE.

There seems to be no end to the benefits of fish oils. Not only are they said to boost heart, brain and joint health, but they also prevent cancer, eye disease and bone problems.

Last week, a new study suggested they could assist the body against premature ageing. But how do you separate the facts from the hype? PETA BEE asked the experts...

Cure oil or something fishy? Fish oils contain the essential omega fatty acids, which we only get through our diet
WHAT'S SO SPECIAL ABOUT FISH OILS?
Fish oils are a type of polyunsaturated fat - a 'healthy' fat. Unlike saturated animal fats, they don't raise your cholesterol levels, but are known to have a positive effect on health.
Polyunsaturated fats are divided into two groups of what are called Essential Fatty Acids (or EFAs) - omega-3 and omega-6.
Both omegas are essential in helping to regulate blood clotting, body temperature, blood pressure and the immune system; they are also needed to make prostaglandins, important hormone-like chemicals in the body. The only way we can get them is through our diet.
Omega-3 has particular benefits, producing vital substances such as DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), thought to play a key role in the development of brain and cognitive function, and EPA ( eicosapentaenoic acid), vital for brain health.
The richest source of omega-3s are fish oils - salmon, mackerel, fresh tuna and herring.
While most Britons consume more than enough omega-6 oils (found in most edible oils, but particularly sunflower and corn, as well as meat), they are deficient in omega-3.
WILL THEY PROTECT MY HEART?
There have been a number of studies suggesting fish oils boost heart health, but the most compelling evidence was a study last year published in the Journal Of The American College Of Cardiology.
Led by Dr Carl Lavie, of the Ochsner Cardiology Clinic in Louisiana, the study showed omega-3 oils help to prevent blood clotting and regulate or lower blood pressure.
The strongest heart-protective effect is for patients with established cardiovascular disease, the study found.

Brain food? Teenagers taking exams. Fish oils help protect your brain against Alzheimer's disease but won't boost your mind power in a test
'This isn't just hype - we now have tremendous and compelling evidence from very large studies, some dating back 20 and 30 years,' Dr Lavie said.
Under guidelines issued by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), doctors are encouraged to prescribe supplements to patients after they have had a heart attack to prevent repeat attacks.

WHAT ABOUT MY BRAIN?
There has been great interest in the fish oil effect on the brain - both in preventing disease and boosting brain power.
Studies have shown, for instance, that DHA can reduce the formation of plaques in the brain; these have been linked to Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Too little omega-3 has been linked to mild depression, and there is some evidence that fish oils may help here.
DHA has been shown to boost foetal brain development.
However, parents who feed their children fish oil supplements before exams might be wasting their money, as the evidence for fish oils boosting intelligence and exam performance is tenuous.
WHAT ELSE CAN THEY DO?
Eating oily fish once a week has been shown to protect against age-related macular degeneration, the most common cause of blindness in the older generation.
They might also be helpful in the fight against some forms of cancer.
Last year, Professor John Witte, from the University of California, suggested a high intake of omega-3s reduced men's risk of prostate cancer by about 60 per cent. There is some evidence, too, that a regular consumption of omega-3s can help prevent bowel cancer.

rainy cold day.

rainy rainy day.. some say tornado warning in long beach hmm. that's a first well im located in California if you didn't already know that and everyone seems to be sick. my sister, my friends, so i looked up some ways to heal faster.. and what did i find.. vitamin c! haha as if we didn't already know that
enjoy this article.

In the winter, your body's internal thermostat gets a real workout. Some bodies cope better with the constant fluctuation in temperatures than others. Whether you have a robust constitution or have a tendency to get sick often, easy home remedies exist that can help stave off or fight colds and flus.

Two herbs that you can buy at any health food store to stay healthy are astragalus and ginger. Both herbs are great at boosting immunity, warding off viruses and nourishing the heart. Ginger is also anti-inflammatory and astragalus can protect the liver. If you have high blood pressure or difficulty sleeping, however, you should be careful with astragalus.

Getting plenty of vitamin C in your system on a regular basis can also help ward off evil bugs. The recommended daily intake of vitamin C is 90 mg for adult men and 75 mg for adult women. Most people associate vitamin C with oranges, which have 70 mg of vitamin C for each medium orange. Two foods that you might not realize have incredibly high amounts of Vitamin C are broccoli and red bell peppers. Half a cup of raw, red bell peppers has 142 mg of vitamin C and one cup cooked broccoli has 123 mg.

If a bug does get you, you have a couple of options that are inexpensive and effective. Echinacea augustifolia and Echinacea purpurea, if taken at the onset of cold or flu symptoms, has the ability to fight off bacteria, calm inflammation and boost immunity. Be careful if you are taking drugs that suppress your immune system as Echinacea can interfere with their functions.

Another option is homemade tea. A good tea to make if you are coming down with a cold is fresh sliced ginger, lemon and honey. The ginger has antimicrobial properties and can help relieve an upset stomach. The honey can soothe the throat, calm digestion and help kill the nasty germs. The lemon is astringent and can help with a scratchy throat. It also has 45 mg of vitamin C per quarter cup of juice.

Whether you are trying to stay healthy, or combating a virus, try one of these solutions to becoming a healthier you.
