Detoxification: Facts You Must Know
Detoxification, I first heard about this process from a classmate who chose this subject as her presentation for a public speaking class. She did a very good job, because I was eagered to go home, find more information, and try ridding my body of its toxins! However, I soon forgot about it, and my schedule interferred. Over time I heard more and more about detoxification and it has always intrigued me. Proponents of the detox diet claim that detoxification can result in weight loss, clear-mindedness, and greater energy.
Detoxification is one of those things that are like taking hormone injections or vitamin supplements, you must consult with your doctor before starting it and you must make sure your body isready for the affects and side affects. For those who aren't sure what detoxifciation is, it is basically a diet process which sole purpose is purging the body and eventually remove toxins such as alcohol, caffeine, chemicals, sugar, water, any artifical substances out of your body. The removal of these substances is believed to eliminate fatigue, head-aches, and many other chronic illnesses.
What you must know about detoxification according to the webmd is most detox diets are so restrictive, that you cannot maintain them for a long time. The weight that you are losing from detox diet is water weight, which can be quickly regained. If the detox diets are used for a long time, they can and most likely WILL be harmful to your body because of the intense nature of it. According to the webmd, while symptoms may improve, there is no evidence that it is due to clearing toxins from the body. If you are still convinced on trying the detox diet, do your research, consult with your physician, and remember, EVERYTHING IN MODERATION!
